Introduction to IPKISS and Luceda Photonics¶
Welcome to the basic layout and simulation training for IPKISS!
IPKISS is a powerful photonics design platform that is built with Python. Thanks to the Python backbone, design teams can borrow software development practices such as code sharing, versioning and regression testing while having a domain specific language for all aspects of photonics design. Our platform allows integrated photonic engineers to design and automate across all levels of the photonic design flow starting from the component all the way to the final circuit layout and validation simulation.

About this tutorial¶
The goal of this training is to give you basic proficiency in the IPKISS framework. In this training you will learn how to:
- create photonics waveguides;
- layout a basic photonics component;
- define a compact model for a photonics component;
- optimize a photonics component using CAMFR;
- build and simulate small circuits using CAPHE.
IPKISS is based on Python. Are you new to Python? Don’t worry, we got you covered! It’s an easy language to learn. Follow this tutorial to get started: Introduction to Python.
